Nails Hide Metal plays for Service Industry Appreciation Night

The local rock trio Nails Hide Metal plays starting at 7 pm.  Drink discounts for card-carrying members of the Serivce industry

Nails Hide Metal is a Portland based power trio playing original rock music. NHM blends melody, strong lyrics, driving rhythms and a distinctive effects based guitar sound.

“Lo fi is an overused term for lazy people, but I’m definitely that, so I’ll say it. Just once. NHM is all over the palate; one tune will remind you of late 70s punk rock, but not quite be that; slippery and well-read, would be my overwhelming impression. Notes and nods to epic-spinners like Townshend and other folks of that salubrious sort can be heard in much of the guitar work and vocal heights. The guitar, again, is slippery though. On tunes like Darkness Glow it has that supersonic, 60s and 70s psychedelic altitude; but then on Look For it, it’s straight-up punk rock; crashing through four chords like a bruiser. Vocally, NHM shows it’s experience as well, raining between Hendrix-esque patois and more melodic duo work on tunes like Eastern Breaks. Bottom line: expect the unexpected; a tour of rock N roll from The Guess Who to The Shins.” Jimbo, The Hype

After discussing the music that they listened to and loved, MeLinda Dalton and Russ Quinn got together to write and play. The chemistry was perfect to develop the songs that came out of the union in 2009. In 2010, they recorded a six song EP titled ‘Ghost’ under the name The Ninas. In 2011, they recorded their second EP ‘Where Are We Now’ and changed their name to NAILS HIDE METAL (a line from their song ‘Matter’).

While the two recorded and produced ‘Where Are We Now’, an atmosphere of musical experimentation began to take place and their sound emerged.

During this time, the duo played clubs and venues throughout the Northeast while still living on the East Coast.

‘Blood and Makeup’ was their next self recorded release of 2012/2013 before their move to Portland Oregon.

The two began playing live throughout Portland and finished recording their latest release‘What’s Left’ at the end of 2013. ‘What’s Left’ is the first group of songs recorded in Portland’s Jackpot! Studio.

Shortly after, bass player Jon Carpenter joined the duo and the three continue playing live shows into 2014.
